Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) First gens Second gen 12-valve blocks?

I just picked up another truck 98 12 valve 4x4 loaded leather and all... I just found out that it has a 53 block :{ and I was thinking about picking up another 12 valve motor from a first gen truck. I was wondering are the 12 valve blocks the same from 88 to 98 like mountings, bolt holes, pistons and cams? I like to have another block just in case it cracks. :{ I would use the head off this 98 motor if the first gens are the same as far as the blocks goes .

Blocks are different 1st gen don't work in 2nd Gen Tried to sell first gen engine but it has different motor mounts. 2nd gen have special castings in the block.

Don't sweat the 12V 53 blocks.
