Got my box today and installed it in 52 minutes. Instructions are good with a few typos. That also included tapping the exhaust manifold for the egt probe. I did not get the check engine light like others have reported. According to the instructions with a 6spd stock clutch should hold through power and torque level 5. A MONSTOROUS power increase. I'm spoiled as I have a TST box in my 99 and its putting out 600+ hp. Only was able to put 20 miles on truck tonight with the new box on. I tried a couple of combinations and the torque setting can really be felt from 1400 to about 1900 if you just use the torque enhancement and the hp from 2000 up if you use the power settings will push you into the seat. EGT gauge is very accurate but I did not pay much attention to it as I was changing the setting to much. Did I say I love this box. Gotta find a good place to fit the display and check out the egt readings a little more closely tomorrow. I think I will keep the power down for now to save on the clutch till I see what I want to put in.

When I blew my stock turbo I had to put on my B1 quick spool, MAN! you talk about a mid-range and top end performance gain!

Okay now day 2. Well TST's instructions as far as what levels the transmissions can handle are dead on. At level 6/6 I spun the clutch-thats a sickening sound. Forget level 9/9. Also try as I could at 5/5 or below I could not get the egt's above 908. I was not towing anything but I gotta say the egt's are very manageable and the power is very good. I got 38lbs of boost tops in level 5/5.

Bill, are you using a boost elbow when achieving that 38psi? Do the directions say anything about safe levels with the 48RE? If the trans will only handle about 70 - 80hp, seems like my EDGE EZ is looking better and better - PAID FOR!

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

This is a production box right? Hope it's not a tester. I want the straight poop on the boxes everyone is going to get.

Thanks Bill,

Bigdaddy

Heh. . . TST better ship their boxes out with a South Bend Clutch, 'cause you're gonna need one!!

i havemine on level 4/4. . and my little 5-spd clutch is holding good... i will try level 6/6... the torq between level T4 and T5- IS HUGE... big difference...

on a side note, i have not put it the boost elbow yet, because i dont want to break the input shaft ... and my egts at 80mph on level 5/5 was 1086 before the MPH stopped me (cops are sick around here) not bad... also my max boost seems inaccurate, like 22 on gauage, but 26 lbs on TST MAXcr

southbend here i come, but i will stop by DD for a pusher pump first

Big Daddy-Yes a production box. For the 48re they say level 5/5 max without mods and yes there is a boost elbow. Your little edge box pushes the fuel rail pressure to pressures I don't want my fuel rail subject to. Also why push the pressure up when the new boxes will let you dial in whatever you want and drivetrain can handle. :D

Edge EZ and TST Powermax

I think I am going to keep my Edge EZ and TST Powermax and stack both . I like having the higher fuel rail pressure. I might not be able to run the 5/5 or 6/6 settings but latter I might. I ordered my TST box today without the digital guages and was told about 2-3 weeks. I can deal with that. My question is going to be how do I hook both boxes to my MAP sensor or any thing else they both use. Has anyone stacked this box yet with an EZ or will I be the Guinea pig. Oo.

Tommygun,

if you have a free 30 minutes sometime. Would you take me for a ride in your truck? I live out in O'Fallon MO and would like to see this box in action. My edge is great, but I would like to check out the timing box.

Does this box just plug in like the edge box, or is there wire splicing / etc. to do?

Thanks

Dave

of course i have a SO - the HO with TST would be really nice...

but i bought the box for what the HO upgrade was, and I hate the 6-spd

Brent,

What's your reasoning for wanting to keep the EZ on? If the TST on 5/5 with an Edge is equivalent to the TST alone on 7/7 (for example), why not just run the TST at the higher level, and keep the rail pressure in spec. ?

Just curious

Well I thought I would try it. I would think that with the higher fuel pressures you get better atomization. And also better burn and fuel economy. I am not looking to gain more power with both just experimenting.

Like SILVER03 said, does the tst produce any black smoke. There are a couple of f**ds here that I would like to blind
