The trucks don't have catalytic converters but I think there are some other differences in the way the engines are set up so that they pass the emissions test for Kalifornia. Now do you have to have the tests performed. That's between you and Sacremento.
ETH, yes, it's true. Even here in the land of the SCAQMD, we don't have to deal with the smog nazi's every other year. I bought my first Cummins in 1991 and haven't been to one since!!
All Diesels are exempt from smog here in CA. However they are trying to change that. The real question is -- will they make it retroactive? Only time will tell. Gunny
put in a set of stage II or III injectors and you will really show CA a good smog test we heere in conn. have to take our trucks through emissions every two years. i've owned two cummins since march,1998, and have never been through one yet. i figure the state gets enough of my money already. why should a brand new truck that wwwill pass have to go through anyways?
