Hi All,

FYI, just got my report back from Blackstone. Thats a nice service they offer.

The details:

Amsoil 15/40 HDD Syn at about 13k miles (double the miles compared to their averages).

The Frantz filter & K&N RE-0880 appeared to be working well.

Material / Measured / Average at 5-6k miles.

I specifically asked if they could determine if any paper is leaving the frantz & getting in the oil.

Their remarks were that they took a close look at the insolubles (particles in the oil), which came out to be very low (. 1%), no paper found in the oil. Said that this indicates good filtration.

Low silicone, & normal wear rates.

Too bad there's no TBN, but they recommended a longer interval next time.

I figure at this rate, I see no reason to replace the oil before 20k miles.

Paper used in frantz, was the scott 1000 sheet rolls, pretty tightly packed in the canister. Note: the oil did look pretty dark, was not honey colored at all.

Your spectro resulst look very good, however, to really examine the effectiveness of the filter, I would suggest that in addition to running the spectrographic analysis, also have a particle count done on the oil. This would have been good to have done prior to the switch to the K&N and remote as a baseline. Particle count will give a very exact, emperical reading of fine contaminants in the oil. I have seen spectro results indicating all is well yet the Particle Count indicated a very high level of contamination occuring (K&N equipped vehicle). .

Thanks George for the input.

Sounds interesting.

I noticed in another post you said you were involved in the field. If you dont mind, when I get a chance ill PM you w/ info how to get another analysis done. Ran out of time for now. Tnx.
