Another victum

Did the exact same thing on my last oil change. I was silly enough to drop my oil plug in the drain pan and it quickly plugged the hole in the bottom of the pan!! Tried to quickly fish it out... . no luck :( I'm an idiot! Oil everywhere :D Won't do that again :p

JMorrow,

?? ??

Don Rogers,

Yes the lever is spring loaded with a detent in the closed position, you have to pull it back and then turn down to open it. It drains out the bottom.

Here's another option and you get a useful tool out of it, to boot.

For twenty bucks, I bought a 3/8" ratchet called a "Sidewinder" from the local parts store. It operates like a standard ratchet, but it also has a shaft running down the inside of the handle to a lever at the end of the grip. By turning the lever you can cause the square drive to turn without moving the handle. I throw a five gallon bucket under the truck (4X4), break the drain plug loose with the ratchet as you normally would, then spin the lever until the plug is unthreaded. The oil drains over the ratchet head into the bucket until the plug is out and the plug stays on the end of the ratchet for easy removal. I now use this method on all my machinery and my driveway has never been cleaner.

Ok I got another one

Changed the oil for the first time after owning it for a month, I got a big pan read your problems and went to work, I got to see what everyone was talking about when draining but no mess, then Installing the plug it begain to tighten then it got loose:confused: so I took it back out and the flat washer was broken off, well we all know what I'm thinking but I took the seal washer off and tig welded it back on them assembled installed and torqued in place:D I guess sometimes it pays to have too many tools. A new plug is on my parts list as a backup:p
