Harvey, thanks for your post. I have been personal friends of the owner of the dealership for years and they do come through if something happens. The Dodge rep for our area is a huge car guy and has no problem approving warranty work with tuned trucks, but I fully understand what your saying. I guess it's a chance I take. It's not like I'm abusing the truck. The Ram mechanic said these trucks run much better without the EPA stuff on it and in fact have less problems with the truck. I still don't tow outside what the truck is rated for and if in fact by turning my turner back to stock doesn't fix the shutter I will be taking it off.

You just ratted out your factory Rep-There are Corporate guys who frequent the forums. If what you say is true it will change. Good luck with your truck. I recommend you research head gasket issues with tuners on 6. 7's. I don't know any dealer techs who want to fix a blown head gaskets on a tampered truck at warranty labor

Interesting thoughts on this thread... I have the same exact problem with my truck , only in first gear. When I try to start out with a load, even just 2000 pounds of sand or gravel in the bed, i get a shudder.

Remove your front end leveling kit and try it.

While I appreciate everyone's response to this post I didn't intend it to be about warranty work and opinions on whether you agree on using a turner. I was just asking if this shutter is a common problem. I fully understand that by putting a tuner on my truck the dealership may or may not cover warranty claims. There is sure a strong opinion on this forum about tuners.

To answer your question, no, it isn't a common problem for stock trucks.

This is my first Ram out of 4 that I have had any problem towing with. This shudder has me frustrated.

It might be that you have too much air in your air bags and the rear axle is teeter tottering on the bags. The rear springs need to carry most of the load so they "plant themselves" and control the rear axle flopping.



All my rigs are older so I am not sure, but I think the newer trucks have longer/weaker springs. If so, they may need more weight than your air bags are allowing. Try using less air and see what happens.

Nick, thanks for that info it's the first I have heard of this. I usually run my airbags with around 35lbs when towing then 20 when not towing, but now that I think about it I don't think I have let any air out of them since camping begun this year. Thanks again for the info and I will look try this.

20# is a lot of air running solo. 5psi is normal.
