Well here I go into the frey. I just bought a first gen in very good condition from another TDR member and am stoked. This is pretty much my dream truck. Anyway to keep this short I have a guy here who makes biodiesel and delivers it to our house for 3 bucks a gallon. Pretty good over here in CA. I have heard that I may need to change any rubber parts contacting fuel. What are some of the concerns I may have running biodiesel. Thanks guys, look forward to learning alot and sharing whatever I know.

pic with girlfriend and truck.

First, find out what percentage blend it is. Anything up to 20% should be ok IF you have a fuel system with the rubber psrta made of the right rubber (Viton A comes to mind from a thread elsewhere).

Second, find out if the fuel system has had any work recently (<4yrs- pump, lines, etc. ) A leaking external fuel line isnt a big deal, though potentially messy. A leaking seal in a pump can prove catastrophic. Good excuse for a high RPM/ High flow rebuild from a reputable vendor. ;)

Great looking rig. G/F has nice legs. Hope you like it here as much as we do.

Nice truck, Looks lots like my 93!

Bio??? Ask your vendor if he has any other 1st gen dodge clients who will share experiences with his fuel. Can't hurt to ask and bio does vary a bit by the type of WVO used etc.

Welcome to the madhouse!

I don't know much about bio, but i did just pulled a pump of a 92 that shut down while driving on wvo. brought it to my pump guy and this thing broke things that he hasnt seen in 30 years of building. apparently he didn't mix the chemicals correctly and the viscosity was off. big expensive mess (new pump + no core). the ve is lubed by fuel so make sure you inform yourself to potential dangers.

very good looking truck and girlfriend, take care of them and they'll both be around for quite some time :)

Welcome to TDR! Nice truck. I ran B20 in my truck for about 3 months, fuel mileage was not as good but it did idle smoother, performance wise I didn`t notice any difference. From what I have read the lubricating value is NOT as good as dino fuel & now that we are all running ULSD (including the Bio makers) the lubrication value could potentially be lower yet. I run lube additive in every tank of fuel.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Now its time to translate all the acronyms. I'm as green as they come. Anyway, my supplier makes his own and some times gets B99, so I will talk to him more about it as well. My parents neighbor actually has a second generation and buys from him( or used to) as well, he is just so goddarn grumpy all the time. Maybe a sixer will help that.
