Competition First pull, need some help

Competition FREE Drag Racing

Well this last sunday in bedford, PA i got my first pull under my belt! 212 ft and placed 10th out of 15 trucks in my class (2 duramaxes, 2 furds and 11 dodges. ) i felt pretty good about my pull (outpulled 2 chebys, and one powerstroke. ) now all i need is a different clutch, dont think i can get another pull in on my stock clutch :-laf

Good deal! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I am gonna be attempting my first pull with my diesel next month. Already done one with my old '71 Chevy that had a 600 HP big block with a TH400. This will be my first with a manual, hence my following questions... ...

How much HP do you estimate you are running? Is your truck a manual or auto?

Im not certain how much hp i am laying down (im hoping around 275 or so with the mods i have done), our club dyno's this weekend. i can post results sunday evening. "the goat roaper" is a 5 speed with about 214,000 or something showing. i used 3rd gear and 4 low. when the weight really began to drop that sled down, my clutch really started to slip  . what really became my advantage was my tires and the fact that is was a pretty loose track. most of the trucks that pulled were running close to factory tires so they were not getting much traction. good luck and make sure to post how many feet you pulled when the fair is over. if there are any more questions that you might have, feel free to ask away. im sure if its a question that i dont know the answer too, someone will chime in and help ya out.
