Truck and trailer weigh in...

I brought back a load of wood with a 20 ft gooseneck from Oklahoma. The wood weighed 12,120 lbs. I was at 23,720 Gross according to the cat scale in Checotah, Oklahoma. I drove between 70-75 on the freeway coming home in a slight headwind and got 12. 2 mpg. The power was just awesome, truck did fine with not having to gear down except in traffic. Don't know about egt's as I am in the process now of getting some gauges. Pulling the 5er this weekend and will see how it does with it.

Okie,

Glad to hear your so happy with the truck. I remeber when you took me for a ride after TXRam, you, and I put in those injectors (well I at least watched), and man that BOMB bug caught me!

What kind of gauges are you putting in? I'm on that road very soon so just wondering. I'm thinking SPA's???

Let me tell you my side of the story. I sold Okie the 275s. I took 2 of his "Okie Chairs" in on trade on the injectors. I am glad Okie is pleased with the 275s but I think I got the best end of the deal. I love my "Okie Chairs"!! I set them up in my camp site but rarely get to sit in them. When folks come over to visit, the "Okie Chairs" are the first ones to get used. If you don't have an "Okie Chair", well, you just don't know whats cool... ... ... Thanx Okie!!

loaded towing

I hauled my first heavy load, grossed 24,500 with gooseneck trailer earlier this week. I only have VA box and PS boost module, but I certainly didn't need more power. Much more, and I would start to wonder about clutch life. I ran I-380 and I-80 thru eastern Iowa, never shifted, saw 24lbs. boost, and 1050 on the pyrometer, pre-turbo. Only once was there enough hill to pull down from cruise setting of 68 to 65! My major concern was the trailer tires, but they survived for another trip. I'm still thrilled with this truck!

Those Okie chairs may be too top secret for pictures. The Russians have been trying to get a handle on them for years. I also noticed a few strangers hanging around at the last truck gathering.

I am trying to put it in my schedule to build some more and bring to the meet. Of course if you can't stand it you just have to sit in them. Barry, I am tickled you like your chairs. You are quite welcome. See you at the meet!

Okie Chairs?

Okie-

I'm a native Okie and don't know what an "Okie Chair" looks like? How 'bout a picture or something.

Also, I am interested in the 275's and EZ combination. Getting ready to pull the 5er to the mountains for maybe a month and I am going to see how it does stock. If I think it needs more after the trip, I would consider the 275's and an EZ or similar. Does the stock clutch handle this OK? I would appreciate your opinion.

Thanks,

Dave

All the chairs consist of is an 8 ft 2x12 cut in half with a hole in one of them for the other to slide in and lock together so you can lean back in it. It has a seat on the horizontal part and you can lean back on the other part. As for my clutch it is holding so far. I drive it like a truck and feed it slowly,If I were to try and spin the tires with a the heavy loads I tow I am sure it would start slipping. I get the next higher gear at 2000 rpm's and slowly give it fuel while accelerating. Of course when empty the tires to spin and the truck just flat goes.

Dave, install and EZ BEFORE you go to the mountains and you will not regret it! I also have some 275s left over from the last Texas Ramboree.

$'s & Time!!!

Barry, I agree, I'd like to have a box before going, but the old money and time crunch has me its clutches. I've got a K&N, guages, and a BD brake ordered that aren't paid for yet, and still have to install them before leaving. Looks like this trip will be stock. After this trip just think how much I will apreciate the mods later. :D
