Well I just got done servicing my truck for the very first time and all went well. But just had a few questions for you guys, correct me if I am wrong or missed some but the only grease fittings I can find are the ones located on the outer tie rod ends, is that all? Also I put in 12 quarts of oil ( 3 gallon) in the motor and that is what showed full on the dipstick. But I thought that I heard on here that it was only supposed to take 11 quarts, so I looked in the manual and it shows 12 quarts (with filter). I am using Valvoline 15-40w, Cummins oil, at least it says it was tested by Cummins and Cummins has their name on the bottle, so I figured it should be ok. Anyone else using this oil in their motors? I plan on changing to a senthetic oil once I get 20k miles on it or so. I think that I am going to run Amsoil once all is good and broke in! Anyway thanks for all of your help out there!!

You appear to have done everything correctly. There are only the 2 grease fittings. And I have been using the Valvoline since new... I like it.

My 2005 takes 12qts, just like the manual says. My 2001 took 11qts. There are only two lube fittings on the 2005. My 2001 had three. Just think... In a couple more years there won't be any... :D
