The death of common sence....

Water Heater Guru (Control Valve Question)

Well after getting heat in the house the dryer doesnt get hot. It is a kenmore, I know they are junk like everything else from sears but it was free and only 2 years old. It is a gas dryer. It does everything but get hot. Any ideas would be helpful.

outlawram,

Check out the exhaust vent pipe. I bet it is has lint restricting the exhaust gases from escaping, sort of like the potato in the tail pipe.

crabman :)

No, I already checked that and ran it directly out the back of dryer and it just will not blow hot air at all. I can see the burner but it will not ignite, I wonder if it is a electric igniter.

Most gas dryers that have electric ignition use a hot surfase style of ignition system. If you don't see the hot surface element glowing, then the element is broken. Look for a pilot, but pilot type burners have not been used in clothes dryers since about 1993. Hope this is of some help.

When I had problems with mine, there was 2 things... . There are 2 solonoids underneath that are the "gas valves. " They had gotten so hot they had actually started melting. When that happened, under the back cover, there is a little white thing that is a fuse. That fuse had blown. My local repair guy had them in stock and if I remember right the fix was about $50. (this was 3 years ago, and it's 6am... i'm a little fuzzy)

Mine was a PITA to take appart, the whole front plate had to come off. My drum just hung out there with no support while I worked on it.
