My old '96 with 248k has gotten 5k oil changes since new and never needed any between changes. We are six weeks into vacation pulling this heavy fiver and after the last change in Vegas I had to add the first ever quart with 3500 on the last change. Have to say we have pulled some awesome mountains during this trip and never looked back. Engine temps never exceeded normal and kept the egt's workable also.

Tough old girl for sure.

Have to get home first Gary. Now in Billings, gonna do Rushmore and Crazy Horse this week and then the journey south for a reality check with the weather. All in all I have had an uneventful trip truck wise. The relay issue early on, then the shaft issue with the trailer legs. , The old truck has eaten the mountains, mostly in 4th, couple times in 3rd, and also times in 5th, depending on the egt's. Has been an awesome trip for us old folks for sure.

Thanks Bud, that sounds just like the kind of drives we like to take. I'll see if the bride wants to stay over one more day. We are getting a bit road weary for sure.

I agree as I have been checking on the local weather at home. I don't have to go that far though. Our son lives on Camano Island WA and told me to plan on spending the summers there at his place. Worth looking into as he has 10 acres with a rv hookup close to his house. Even said he would put in a slab for us. Hmmmm.

If I don't run Mule on the highway twice a week he will use 1/2 quart for a 200 mile run when I do use him for produce run (If use the Mule like I been using him he hardly uses any oil. )

Sounds like good times and a good truck! My 95 has used a quart between changes since new and now at 250k it's still at that level. However since I've been running extended changes for the last 100k miles or so I don't mind since the makeup oil replenishes additives.
