First time installing new turbo...now have new noise

New to this site and looking for some advice. I am adding an AFE, pusher pump and HTBG with 4" down pipe this weekend. Is there anything I need to know as far as installation? I hear the turbo is relatively easy to install but want to make sure. The AFE should be a no brainer... but don't know about the pusher pump. Just want to make sure I do it all right. Any advice would be much appreciated!!

UPDATE. . see below.

Start spraying the bolts on the turbo with a penatrant. I like to use PB Blaster.

That is about the hardest part with a stock turbo.

I can only help you with the turbo. It,s always a good idea to pre-lube it before strat-up. This is done by adding clean engine oil thru the oil feed on the top of the turbo. Good luck. BAC.

So you are saying to put oil into the new turbo before installing it?? Where exactly to I put it and how? I am real new to this, sorry. Also, do I need to torque the bolts down? If so, how much?

pusher pump

I had just installed the fass by dpp about three to four weeks ago. I thought that it was a very simple install, accept for the few missing bolts. the system bypasses the fuel delivery from the tank to the filter pot and plugs right in to you factory lift pump plug.

the turbo has an oil feed line on the top of the center section and a return on the bottom. put some oil in the top hole and spin the charger by hand for a bit ( i did this after the turbo was installed and the return line was mounted). the only other issue i had was with the new downpipe. it was a tad shorter than the previous pipe, so i had to loosen the clamps and stretch 1/2 inch from each joint to get enough to clamp the new downpipe into my existing 4" system.

Relax!! Everything will go in 1, 2, 3! :D Each item you listed will be a simple procedure to install. Don't worry. Kudos on the prelubing of the turbo bearing- put in a little oil- spin-oil-spin- reconnect feed line and you'll be good to go. Oo.

And hey- like you don't know where to go if you run into a problem:-laf

I'll be back and forth from the garage to the computer Friday if I have a problems. So Racin... can I turn the box up to 5x5 now and run the **** out of it now?;)

Clmsnow-

If you want thrash on a new part that way it's up to you- me personally- I'd let the bearing for that turbo break in first before I'd thrash on it hard... ... . but that's just me

you'll read different suggestions, but i don't think you can go wrong with a couple hundred EASY miles before you run it hard. better safe than sorry... and all that!

(IMHO) That's just common sense.....

Will the stock oil return 'pipe' need any modifications to fit with the new turbo?
I had to do some trickery to mine to fit it so it doesn't rub against anything.

And what about the heater coolant pipe? Might get close to the turbo now also?

I'm just thinking aloud here- better to have solutions to potential problems upon the installation... ... .

Don't know the answers to those questions... but I will go easy on it the first tank. I am also adding a 4" from the turbo back... which I didn't have before. Should I notice much power increase?

It's Saturday morning..... just wondering how you made out with your first turbo install? Everything go o. k. ? You must be out BOOSTing to your hearts content!!!
Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

LOL... got her done late last night. For the most part everything went fairly smooth. Didn't take her out because it was late and didn't want to wake up the neighbors. The harderst part was getting the stock exhaust off. I had to get a hacksaw and cut it half way back. Right now it just has the 4" down pipe and then it is open from there. I am taking it down to the muffler shop shortly to have them finish off the exhuast. I had a 4" from the muffler back, now I need them tied together. Everything mounted up real well on the turbo. There is this blue colored line that runs real close to the intercooler line... not sure if that will be a problem. AFE was a breeze. Didn't get the pusher pump on yet. . read the instructions and may need some help on that one. So, do I sell the stock turbo now??? Looked like it was fine. And lastly, I'll take it easy for a little while... won't even turn the box to 5x5 until I get that pusher pump on:)

Just got it back from the muffler shop. I noticed it earlier and still notice it. When I am at an idle at a light I hear, and feel, a vibration from underneath the truck. If I put it in nuetral it goes away. I did notice the oil return line is in right up against this other line coming off the turbo to the wastegate and the there is a blue hose hard up against the metal inlet for the intercooler hose. Any suggestions?
