I recently bought a 1992 Dodge and there is a rattle that sounds like its coming from the transmition. My dad (93'cummins owner) thinks maybe flexplate? Any other first generation owners have this problem or maybe lead me in the right direction. My 1992 cummins is a automatic trans. 4x4 with 154000 miles. I also just subscirbed to the tdr and I just want to say AWSOME stuff ive never been more excited to chat post and search on a web site. Oo.

Thanks

Todd

Could be a cracked flexplate. . lots of guys have had them. . sounds like a ticking/knocking thing when it's going. . the 94 & up flexplate is a bit thicker and a upgrade most guys do when they have their transmission pulled for a rear main seal or trans repair. . I put a 94 flexplate in mine when I upgraded to a tighter tourque converter. .

If you do change your flexplate, do yourself a favor and change the rear mainseal while you're in there. .

I plan on taking a look at the flex plate and i think even if thats not the problem i think ill replace it. My friend has a 93' and his went out on him going to south dakota. Thats the last thing I need is for it to go out on the road somewhere. Thanks alot for the info. :)
