Towed this Memorial day weekend for first time with TST box and all I can say is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone here is familiar with hwy 50 from Sacramento to South Lake Tahoe, I cruised up at any speed I wanted! Hit 85 in a couple spots on passing lanes. Damn cars were slowing me down

P. S. I am towing 30' 5th wheel 10500lbs +

Towed with box on 3-3 setting and I thought it was strange but EGTs were lower towing than they were not towing and smoke was not as noticable

The low end pull was just UNBELIEVEABLE! I got stuck behind a car towing boat at 35-40 and When I finally hit a passing lane I passed him and just about everyone else

Later on one hill I lugged motor instead of downshifting and I hit 1350+ and eased up a little and cruised around 1000 to 1200 EGTs on most hills

This box is an awsome towing accessory I cannot see being without:)

Fast Trip

daytripper63,

Sounds like a good experience. Glad to hear a good report.

If you plan the 85mph trip again, let me know. I will follow you and collect some spare turbo parts! :D

What brand exhaust do you have? Did you notice a drop in egt's with it?

The power you guys are getting by simply installing a box is awesome - for the manual transmission guys, what are you seeing with clutches? The one in my '02 HO couldn't deal with 725 ft lbs torque, and you guys are getting a lot more than that, how do the stock clutches deal with it?

OH, we take 50 going up to Pollock Pines towing our 5er quite frequently - speed is limited by road conditions and traffic - not power - ain't these trucks GREAT! :D

Doesn't matter what box you have, it's all about right foot control and the setting. I just use mine on lower settings and don't floor it every stop-no slippage at all. Usually I drive on 4/2. If you want to burn up the clutch, it's all too easy, but like I said-control

Good to see the box working in the tow mode, when you say lugging on the hill what rpm's were you lugging at to get 1350 on the pyro.

I went down to about 1300 to 1400 rpm in 4th gear

And no clutch problems towing 3-3

One thing I did notice the other day when towing my jeep on setting 4-2

I could barely hear rpm go up faster than speed as box would kick in from 1600-1900 rpm range and that was the only time I felt clutch slip

But when towing 5er on 3-3 never felt any slippage

Bought mine through Imler Diesel in Sacramento

Could have bought direct from TST but Ken Imler does most all my work and I would rather have someone I trust doing these type of mods. to my 40k truck

This way I can get his opinion on various mods. and products instead of just bolting on and going
