3rd tow of 5er, now have 2060 miles

I just finished my first tow today, from Savannah to Atlanta, a van on a rented trailer, about 6000 lb. It was really something to feel the Cummins bite into a load for the first time, even if it was pretty light compared to what a lot of you guys pull. I was concerned about running in OD and stressing the trans, since it would turn about 1700 at 60 mph or so & I thought that was kind of slow. So I disabled the OD & ran the whole way just under 2500 at about 60 mph. Was my thinking right? Could I have run in OD without stressing the trans? I'd really appreciate some advice in this area. As you can see from my signature, I'm stock with a 3. 54 rear. (Next purchase is guages).

24V engines and auto's do a lot better towing with 4:10's. I just returned from 3rd tow. Run around 2,000-2100RPM and 63MPH in OD. They say not to put power to it under about 1800RPM so that the pressure is up to the lockup TC. Snow King
