A couple of Newby questions

About 6 montha ago, I purchased a 2001 (current mileage 88,xxx) with a 47RE trans. When I changed the oil I went to Amsoil, thinking about using Amsoil in the trans because I need to keep it alive (at least until the truck is paid off). Going to install my Isspro trans temp sending unit at the same time, not sure if I will put it in the pan or the cooler line. Does the torque converter have a drain plug? How much fluid should I have on hand when I do this? Also going to do a band adjustment. It's my daily transportation, almost never haul or tow anything with it.

I would put the temp sensor in the hot line but others have other preferences. I also switched to amsoil atf 120k ago and have been very happy. There is no drain plug in the stock converter. If I recall the last time I did a change before I upgraded my trans I would drain the pan loosen the vavle body bolts let it sit for an hour or so and I "think" I was puttting in about 8qts that is with a maghytec deep pan as well.
