Temecula Dodge.

5000miles and took the truck in for the following

First Oil Change

Lube Front Drive Shaft at each Oil Change- per the sticker attatched

under hood (from the factory)

Rotate Tires

Called me and said come get it... so I do, here's the result

First Oil Change - Completed

Lube Front Drive Shaft at each Oil Change- per the sticker attatched

under Hood (from the factory) - Said the Fittings are all sealed (pre

lubed?)

Rotate Tires - Said tires were cupping? and that they'd already been

rotated, this is bs, I've had the truck since new and unless someone

did it while I was asleep, it hasnt been done... . talked to mechanic and

he wanted to see how they wear, recommend rotate next oil change

Can anyone with an 05 see if they have the Lube Front Drive Shaft at each Oil Change Sticker on the support beam above the radiator... ?

Does the Drive Shaft have sealed bearings / ujoint?

What the hell is a cupped tire? They look fine to me...

Are they just loosers and bs'ing me?

Any thoughts appreciated...

I just changed the oil on my '05 last weekend and saw that same sticker saying to lube the drive shaft with a picture of a CV joint. I crawled under and found the CV joint at the transfer case end of the driveshaft, but there's no zerks on it. The only way to lube the U joints is to pull off the driveshaft and pull apart the U joints. I hope they're permanently lubed and don't require pulling the driveshaft every 7500 miles.

I looked at mine as well and could find no zerks or grease fittings of any kind. Can't imagine that they expect you to disassemble the u-joints to lube them.

Why are u having all that work done at 5,000 miles?????????????????????? you can go just a bit longer. 15,000 for oil change. 25,000 tire rotate. And so on. Unless you haul 20,000 pounds all day every day.

Klenger, Awaiting a 3500 CTD and presently driving a '99 Tacoma 4x4. It has several zerks on all four corners as well as on both ends of both front and rear driveshafts(universals). You'd think the US mfger's would finally get it !!!!!

Am keeping the '99 as well as the new '05 CTD and I'd like to say that the '99 will be around longer than the '05 - But I won't (cause of the CTD)!

15k miles only applies to vehicles operated in the most rare cases. You'd practically have to have no idle time, and long, slow freeway trips.

Most vehicles should be maintained according to the severe service schedule, 7500 miles per oil change.

I change my oil at 5k, because I only drive about 3. 5 miles each way to work and back, and only go on long trips on the weekends. I'm sure my oil is at 5k miles what someone else's oil is like at 7500 miles.

Besides, it doesn't hurt to change oil too much. I also rotate my tires at 5k, because they *do* wear that quickly.

My '05 has the same sticker, and just like everybody elses, there is no grease fitting. I'm not sure why the sticker is there. I posted about this when I chnaged my oil the first time at 5k miles as well. Nobody had an answer any different than what you read here.

I also rotate tires between 5,000 and 7,500 miles, they last a lot longer if you do. If you wait until 25k rotating is pointless, the tires are at least half gone by then.

As far as oil change intervals, I went 5k on the original oil and will be going at 10k intervals on Amsoil. Everybody has on opinion on that deal though ;)

Yes, I have experience with the DOdge dealership in Temecula. They are too big for their britches. I have not had very good results with them. ALso stay away from Perris Dodge just down the road. I use HEMET CHRYSLER and they are awesome... I live near Hemet/Winchester area...

A zerk fitting is not the only way to grease CV joints. I had a '78 Blazer that had a couple of the CV joints that required a needle type adapter to grease the joints. Casual inspection of the joint would not reveal the tiny holes for the needle. The service manual showed where they were, and after wiping away some dirt, I found them.

Can't imagine that there would be a sticker like that without something to grease.

I price shopped routine service at all the dealers in the Riverside--San Bdno area, from Corona to San Bdno and Redlands, and from Riverside to Indio, including Hemet, Perris and Temecula. Hemet Chrysler and Moss Mtrs in Riverside had the best prices. I've had routine service at both and have been satisfied. Moss Mtrs will honor any other dealer's service special, as long as you have the flyer or coupon and it shows that the special is Chrysler/Dodge sponsored/authorized, and not just a local dealer's pvt special. They'll honor it even if it's expired. Neither Hemet Chrysler nor Moss Mtrs is perfect and each has other "issues. " But, I've been satisfied with the routine service. Moss even washes your truck, and it's not just a "spray and wipe. "

Mine just went to Temecula today, had the steering gearbox replaced a couple of weeks ago, the same day they ripped out their alignment machine. The mechanic told me he eyeballed it and it bring it back in a couple of weeks so they could put it on the new alignment machine. I've had decent luck dealing with Cody (service advisor), he's pretty straight up. Don't like the rest of them though. Wouldn't go there for anything but warranty. John

Be happy that they didn't suggest replacing your spark plugs like my dealership did at 30K service. I was tempted to have them do that and then rant and rave when they didn't do what they stated. I guess I'm too nice a guy.

i have had nothing but great things to say about the dealership in Escondido. cant remember the name. i bought the truck there. its a dodge crystler dealership though. real good people inthe service department.

i change my oil at 5k miles as well. i pull a 32 foot GN and weigh in at 26k when i do. exhaust brake and short drives make me rotate my tires and change my oil a bit more offten. im looking into 19. 5's soon and a two speed rear end with dually conversion... so ill be droping part of my extended waranty.
