Best place to get exhaust brakes

Test drove 2008 F-450

An 8D battery is a large marine battery. I have no idea what it is original use may have been. The dimensions are 20 inches long by 11 inches wide by 10 inches high. I came across the thing at an Exide wholesale distributor. I was trying to buy three group 31's when the guy ask if I had space for a large battery. He sold me a second for $64. 00. By the way a second is just a new battery usually with the cover blemished. I could care less about my RV battery appearance so I jumped on the deal immediately.

I thought about getting 2ea 8D batteries, but after lifting one I decided on 4ea 6v

If you only have room for one or two of the normal deep cycle marine/RV batteries, I have had good luck with Interstate. If you have to replace them yourself or under warranty on the road they are readily available. Fred

8D are not the best for deep cycle use. They were originally Cat batteries. For the average RV that seldom dry camps, a couple groug 27 deep cycle marines in parallel work just fine, to run slides in and out, and landing gear up and down. SNOKING

For best results look for a real deep cycle battery, they will have a longer life then a marine start battery. I have had good luck with Everstart from Walmart. Plus if it ever goes bad there are a trillion walmarts so one should be near you.

Most deep cycle batteries are distroyed by old type RV chargers and leaving them plugged in all the time. My last 2 RV's have had the progressive dynamics chargers with the charge wizard. I leave them plugged in all the time.

You make a very good point. In addition to Wal-Mart, I like Costco Deep Cycle batteries. Although there are not as many Costco's as there are Wal-Mart's, you can't beat Costco's warranty.

I had 2 12v Interstate batteries in my 5vr that lasted 4 yrs, just replaced them with 2 more group 24's. Since I don't boondock with my 5vr I took one out & put it in my Bigfoot camper so I would have 2 for boondocking in the truck camper.

I use the largest wal-mart "never start"(mechanic slang) deep cycle in our 5ver. Holds up good.

Are there any 4-d or 8-d deep cycle's available?
