I put the race fuel line on the truck on friday and still don't have a definate FP fix.
I did however Roll the old bed off today, one, because I have another to go on and two, I have a chaffed leak of my return line. It's whaling too. Its been like this as long as i've had the truck but I though it was water from the corner of the bed. (Yes Joe, I'm a Moron) It was one of those things that stayed in the back of my head. . I just knew it was a fuel leak but couldn't get into it.
God only knows how much i've lost over the last two years.
If the supply line has a hole, I can't find it. I pressure checked it at 20psi and 40 psi. 20 held and 40 blew open OF valve as expected.
Also, the last issue of the TDR has a write up of the fuel system that mentions the slide on the pickup wearing and catching. MINE WAS VERY CAUGHT. I ground down the slots enough to allow free movement.
I don't know what to do about the return line. I'd like to switch it to braided line but I can't flare the pick up at the tank because of the barbs it has for the factory connections. I'm thinking about grinding them down and flaring them anyway. I'm going to invest in mechanical
gauge too with this next order of lines.
Anyone else with a similar model of truck, If you can't fill to about 30 gallons, your pickup canister is probably caught. Mine was about 2. 5-3" from bottoming out.
Also, check the lines where they pass between the fram and fuel tank. It has a prtective piece of plastic, but mine had migrated down the frame rail over time and allowed the lines to contact.
If anyone wants pictures, i'll get them while it's apart. Tell me what you want and how to load them on here.
Kyle.
