I developed a pulsating pedal when hitting the brakes. At first it was only on hard braking but it continued to get worse. When I was coming to a stop I found that the drive shaft would rattle so I figured it was in the rear brakes. Picked up some new rotors and pads and set out to do the rears. When I pulled the right rear rotor off I discovered that the surface was flaking off. It looked a bumper with the chrome peeling off.
Some places were an inch in diameter. In my 40 years in the automotive business I have never seen a rotor flake like this. Anyone got an idea what caused it? TIA
