175,000 miles

Transmission started acting different, started shifting up & down between 2nd & 3rd. While pulling a load up hill the transmission would start to chatter. Had the Transmission rebuilt (Double Disc). Transmission did the something (Shift up & Down) No Chatter. They replaced all the sensors on the transmission. Didn’t help. Transmission shop talked to Dodge tech. they said take it to a dealer & have the computer flashed. Dealer hooked there machine up to the truck but could not communicate with the computer in the truck. They said I have a wiring problem. That has to be found before they can flash the computer. Any ideas or help on this?

Yes i took the Super chip out & put 3,000 miles on the truck. It done the same thing. We put the chip back in & it still acts the same.

The odd part of this is the "unable to flash" syndrome. I would call Bill or Stephan at DTT and see if the rheostat they sell (around 40 bucks) will help. This sounds like the typical TC lock/unlock that electrical noise creates. Try checking the PCM connections to make sure all are good. Hope this helps, at least it is at the top, Mike.

I,going to be gone the first part of the week. But I will try & get a hold of DTT & Super chip. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks JJ

Now I'm confused. Is the programer the one that is used at the data port or is this some "chip" like edge? If it is the programer then comm with the ecm is good and the problem is with the pcm. Mike

I took the truck to the dealer today, they said the PCM is shot. they ordered one & it should get here next week. $450. 00 & that might not be all of the problem.

Now I'm wondering if Dealer is throwing parts at the truck on your dime. If the PCM is faulty then all is well, I just hate to see the "& that might not be all of the problem" quote. Mike

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Symptoms : Transmission shifting in and out of gear or TC locking and unlocking under light to medium conditions between 40mph-60 mph. You can very often address many of the above symptoms by doing the following :

Look for any ground straps or electrical connections that may be loose or contaminated. Check battery terminals, look for bad chassis grounds, bad PCM connections , bad ECM connections.

This is a minor electrical glitch that is a pain in the butt and causes many transmission failures.

It can take a good 4- 5 hours to properly go over all the above I have mentioned.

In addition to the above we developed the DTT Noise Filter. We have been testing it for over a year in house and via our dealer base. It has addressed over 80% of the electrical noise we have encountered.

Here is what we found :

Testing has shown alternator noise spikes present in the TPS signal to the PCM. These noise spikes may be responsible for improper operation of the lockup circuit and/or the overdrive circuit. The more load on the alternator ( ie air conditioning , charging a low trailer battery etc. ), the higher the amplitude of the spikes.

The main cause of this is the fact that Dodge has run the TPS harness wiring along with the alternator wires and noise is induced as a result. Testing has shown that the noise is not present in the TPS power supply from the PCM.

We were looking for an ecnomical filter system to try and address the electrical noise issues in these dodges. The DTT noise filter was a result of our testing. " SNOKNG

Reset the APPS

The filter is a good idea. I would reccomend resetting the APPS. My truck TC was locking and unlocking rapidly making the truck undriveable. I reset the APPS disconnecting the battery for about three hours and depressing the pedal slowly one time with marginal results. Disconnected the batteries overnight and did the pedal deal three times. Truck is now perfect. Still going to install the noise filter I got from Dave but resetting the APPS did wonders for my truck. You have to remember to do this every time you disconnect the batteries for whatever reason ;)

Good luck
