The latest flashes are out there today. I checked and the system is showing revision AO and AP for the 2008 trucks, and AX for the 2007 trucks. I also hear the DVD and customer letters are close to going out that will better explain the emission control system and how the DPF works. As always, if you do not have the latest flash, you would be wise to get it, especially if you have had prior CEL lights.

Sag2 have a question for you I have a 08 and it has never been reflashed or had any CEL do I need to go to dealer and have them update flash ?

I bought it in Sept 07 .

thanks for all your advise

I'm curious if this AX flash (for the 07's) cures the P0128 code for thermostat issues. I had a CEL come on a few days ago - took it into the dealer and they re-set the computer (haven't had a CEL since). On the invoice for the work it said they are waiting on an ECM flash update to deal with this sepecific issue. Anyone know if this is the case?

Also does the AX flash apply to G56 manual trans equipped trucks? Seems like most of the flashes as of late were for auto equipped trucks only.

If it were mine I think I would get the flash done, but if you are happy with the truck as it is now you can stay with the software it has now. Apparently your driving habits are such that the emission controls are happy doing what their doing. Some say that the flashes have reduced the fuel economy, but I'm not sure there is any real proof to that. It's too bad you can't go backward with flashes, then we could prove out the fuel economy thing.

I can't say that it corrects the P0128 or not, but I heard a while back that a new flash was going to make some changes to it. And yes, there is software for both auto and manual trans available.

:-{}To anser your quastion, I can account for every gallon of fuel I have put in my 07 1/2 and after the g30 and flash I droped 2. 1 MPG. Dogde said no way but I have pensel miles from new. Cant bull *&^%$$# out of this one.

Any way to find out what the AX flash is supposed to cure? Also, is there any way to tell if it applies to all trucks or just ones with 68RFE or manual trans or what? I don't want to bother my dealer if it doesn't apply. He gets mad at me.

Are you serious?

he'd just have to get mad at me . if i spent 40-50,000 dollars with him on a truck and he couldn't answer a simple question , then he could kiss my hind end .

Just got mine back from the shop:

G-30 with AU flash.

CEL after 2 days and it stayed on for 5 days then went out. The fuel mileage after the G-30, before the CEL was up 2. 5 MPG.

During the CEL event the mileage dropped to 14. 2 MPG. Cel out the mileage went back up to 15. 3.

CEL was P0128 They flashed an update to fix the thermostat error. Seems to be fine today and too early to tell on mileage.

Had some drivability issues when the CEL was on and the engine was real noisy.

I have faith in DC and the dealers that they will remidy any issues that I may experience with this unit. so far so good.

First Flash On 2008 Mega

Thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones, but finally got a "CEL"

at 5500 miles. Did not affect the engine performance in any way, but took

to Dealer and the Tech said it was just a phantom code... He went ahead

and did the latest flash "AP" for the 08's after I told him that it had been

going into "REGEN" about every 50-75 miles, regardless of driving types.

Also explained that I always drive with exhaust brake on and manually shift

my 68RFE trans to keep RPM's in the best power range... . Haven't put

enough miles on it yet, but on the way home (25 mile hwy drive) the

overhead computer went as high as 19. 6 mpg and seems to be computing

truer since the flash... . can only hope this improves my overall fuel milage

which has been averaging less than 14 mpg hand calulated... . other than

that... ... I LOVE MY TRUCK.

Now I'm worried. No codes yet with 4500 miles. Had the G-30 and AU and no codes since then either. I'm probably going to regret this post. Tomorrow I'll probably get a code. :{

On this bright side my '93 has 150 K and no codes or injectors.

IF you plan on removing your DPF filter with one of these fooler boxes you shouldn't get the flashes. As each flash is also there to make it harder for these guys to crack the code to fool the system

Is this your opinion or a fact? If a fact, how do you know this? What is in the soft ware that makes it harder to fool it????? Please, Do Tell!

When you pulled you DPF and installed new exost , did it cone with a fooler box and did you get any codes. I have a 7. 5, 6. 7 with juice with att. and have not had any codes as yet but the EGT scare me. Emty I can hit 1450 on Donner. and it is not in regen. Did you get a drop in EGRs and what codes. where do I get exost from header pipe back and do I have to weld in bungs. I have bolted flang at the botton of the header pipe and was going to remove everything from there back. Any help on suplyers and codes will ba a help. I think my Juces will Kill any codes but not shoure. I could set it to clear all codes at start up but this is a pain in the&^%$^%&*l

Thanks Harlan:-laf

Yes I got the 5" Turbo back exhaust with fooler and yes it will still throw a code so you have to set the juice to clear codes on startup. I think the very high EGT's are coming from the EGR. You can fab some blocker plates for where the EGR meets the intake. Use the gasket for a template. Remove the butterfly valve inside the intake. (this is mandatory, you must remove butterfly in the intake or you will create many problems. ) The two screws holding the butterfly valve to the cross bar are "mashed" on the end, so you will need to take a small grinder to grind the threaded tip off a bit or else you will break the screw in half when you remove them. Best thing to do is to remove the entire intake manifold for easy access.
when you reassemble it leave the brown connector that goes to the EGR valve on top of the intake, unplugged. I recommend undoing the neg battery cables while you are doing this. Not so much because you will do any damage if you leave them on, but sometimes the computer keeps a memory and it will surge real bad. Removing the neg cables clears all the values it has stored and will prevent that from happening. This happened to me twice before someone told me about it. AND YOU MUST SET THE JUICE TO CLEAR CODES ON START UP OR YOU WILL SET CEL.
If you consider how hot the exhaust gas is and that they dump this hot gas right into the intake you have to know how much this contributes to the high egts that we see in the 6. 7. The higher the egt's get the hotter the gas that gets reintroduced into the intake which makes the egt's hotter still. Visious cycle.
Sorry to Hijack the thread. Got carried away.
BTW... . the first time I removed the DPF, I just unplugged all the sensors. Not surprisingly the CEL came on right away and the engine de rated within 100 miles. After about a week, I got sick of the low power and put it all back on. Had to go to the dealer for the G-30 recall and to get the final 2 codes to go away. They told me I needed a new DPF because it said that it was totally clogged. I knew better because I had it off for almost 2 weeks. They have a protocol to follow and they don't know how to do anything else. So the guy with the Cab and Chassie may not have any problems at all. He may just need to clear the memory like I had to do, to make the codes go away. This forces the computer to relearn and "not make assumtions" so to speak.
I have no faith in the Dodge techs. They only know what they are told, and Chrysler tells them nothing.

Thanks for the come back. Did you get the H&S or the one from Texas. Any Problems Clearing codes and how long be for they came back. After the codes are cleared and you start driving will they come right back. Good thinking on the EGR set up I will try that to get rid of some of my exost heat,Will this also throw us a code, that has to be taken care off? When you installed the Cat & DPF Eliminator Pipe was their a good drop in EGTs. What is the Code and did the Juice & Att read it all right.

Thanks Agin Harlan:-laf

I'll try to make this quick so I don't totally Hijack the thread.
1. DPf Delete is H&S, will set code for Delta Pressure, Won't come back if you clear codes on startup.
2. EGR will set codes. 2 cels will come on. Inless you have Juice and clear on start up. then no codes will come back while driving.
3. You need DPF delete kit if you are planning to block EGR or else you will plug the DPF with Soot. or Regen like crazy. This will use lots more fuel.
Total investment with Juice w/ Att is aroung $2k. Total drop in EGT's around 200*. Total increase in fuel economy. SO FAR..... About 2 mpg. I hesitate to say more than that as I haven't tested a full tank on just highway yet. 15mpg, doing the math 1/2 city 1/2 hwy. with juice on #4 setting. Before that was 13. 5-14 mpg hwy only.
I give it a thumbs up, and figure it won't be long before it totally pays for itself. :-laf
