Well, I got my first flat on the dually. I did not even notice it although as I was towing it seemed to ride just a little different.

I guess thats one reason I got the dually, all that weight on the hitch and a blow out was a non-event.

I put on the spare and its definetly taller (no wear) than the others. So can I leave it that way and let the spare wear in on the inside dually.

Wished I had not been doing smokey burnouts with a flat tire, but live and learn.

Flat Dual

Well, I hate to bear bad news. It's not a good idea to leave the new spare adjacent to a worn partner. It won't just cause the newer (or higher) tire to wear faster, it will also transfer the majority of that side's load to the new tire, and possibly overload it. A heat related failure can result.

Here in Arizona, heat failures are common, so I hope I can be excused for excessive worryance. In Yukon Territory or Minnesota, it may be no big deal.

Was it an inner tire? If not, you have beat the odds on the First Law of Dual Flats. My DC isn't a dually, in large part because of the frustrating experiences I had with a Chebby. That it was a Chubby was bad enough, but duals are duals. I usually got a rock cut on an inner when it was 125F out, and the spare was always a wildly different size.
