Flatbed conversion?

How hard would it be to convert a W250 SRW to a DRW? A relative has done a couple, I seen oneD ) all with flatbeds. Although not with Dodge wheels,but with aftermarket steel dually wheels. the one I seen had the stock 3/4 ton wheels(on the front). I think my truck would look awesome with a flatbed and DRW. I'm not trying to make a 1 ton out of it but I just want to do it? any suggestions

The single tire axle is not wide enough for dual tires. The inside tires will hit the springs. They would need to be moved outboard at least 3/4 on each side. If you use the stock Dodge rims these rims have built up sections around 4 of the studs. These are called coins. These are used to center the rims properly. Your rear drums do not have the countersunk provisions in them for the dual rims.



To do it properly you will need a dually rear axle. Eather the dually pickup or the cab and chassis. Doing it any way less could lead into eather a large monatery burden if something breaks and causes and accident or it could cost your life.



Six wheels and flat steel does look good doesn't it.

Don't they make wheels with different backspacing and offsets? I'll have to ask that guy how his didn't hit the springs. Man it would look :--)

I've seen some w250s converted to dually's, they don't have much space between the tires and the springs but they fit, you could not run airbags for sure... . I saw a fleetside today with duallys and no fender flares, they tuck right under, and look pretty tough, I did not get to see inside his bed to see if he had had to rework the wheelwells... I would think you could swap hubs to get correct wheel allignment features... the ones I've seen all run standard front rims

I do not know what aftermarket dual rims they might be using. Or what is out on the market to use. But if you try to use Dodge rims. You can't get there from here. You will need to stack up 3/4" of spacers to clear the inner rim off the springs. My truck was like that when I got it. If you would like the rims to track true. Then you need to remove the four coined lugs from the inside rim. So it will set flat against the spacers.



The if you are lucky it will center up properly and not bounce going down the road. Remember you have no inner coins to center the inner rims on the drums. The outer rim is coined to the inner rim. So if it isn't centered they both bounce.



I would not reccommend trying this if you are wanting Dodge rims. But if you do. Please tell me if you are coming into the state I live in. I want to make sure to stay away from an area your going to be in.

dually conversion,

probably would be easier to find someone who has a dually one ton and wants to trade for single wheel axles. i know i would be interested to trade because i like to run bigger tires and cant with the dual hubs.



but i am far away, but if you really want a dually that would be the best bet, trade out axles.
