fleetguard air filters vs wix

Was told this week by cummings West that Fleetguard was no longer making air filters for my 99 3/4 ton. They told me that they would be carrying Wix filters... .

I have been under the impression for years that Wix filters were to be AVOIDED as they could come apart and get sucked into the turbo... . any opinions???

If I understand correctly, Wix makes filters for NAPA and the 9946 for the 3rd Gens is highly recommended. I've been using one for years with zero issues.

If you decide you don't want Wix filters, Baldwin filters are a good alternative.

Just don't try to get a filter for a cummings. I think Ford owns cummings. Good thing we have Cummins instead, lol.
