WANTED! western pa clutch installer

I called "shop xyz" (not the Dosge dealer) Friday to pick up a AF19037 expecting a price quote about $40 ish. I was quoted $66 and it would have to be ordered. I think I've seen prices around $38 here on the forums. Which price is closer to reality and if it the lesser amount, where do you get 'em ?

lizzy,

the AH1141 is a smaller filter than the AH19037 and subsequently flows less. i purchased a donaldson (same as AH19037) B105006 at airflow.com for 53 bux - there has to be some place on this planet to get them cheaper, but, 53 is better than 66 bux.

I went to my Peterbuilt shop and was quoted 50. 00.

I talked to the guy that I deal with and reminded him of the last price, right he said, it is 39. 99. I bought it.

I've been picking up my Fleetgaurd BHAFs at the Kenworth right down the road for about $32. I had to order it, but there was no cost involved - only a little time, and I had that. Fuel filters (also Flettgaurd) are just a shade under 12 bucks. Hard to go wrong with that...

I got the NAPA 6637 for 39. 95. Pulled the rubbler nut things out of the bottom of the air box and put them back on the studs. Had a piece of marine rubber mat. similar to this http://www.tilegirl.com/safety.htm. Cut a piece and hooked it over two of the studs/nut to form a saddle for the filter to lay on. Used two long black wire ties to hold filter down on the fender. Drilled a 3/4 inch hole in the far end of the 6637, offset towards the top and installed the filter minder. Also used a short piece of 4 inch SS exhaust pipe inside the mouth of the filter. SNOKING :) Oo. ;)

Drove to Seattle today, 70 miles each way. I am very happy with the new filter setup. Turbo seems to spool up very fast. SNOKING

AH19037 for $30.65 US

I tried half a dozen places when I was out in the real world this past summer, before I found one (I live on the Queen Charlotte Island). I finally stopped at the Freightliner dealership and started talking to the parts manager, it turns out he used to work at another place that sold us our new logging trucks... He had even made a couple of sales trips up here. The conversation turned to salmon fishing and before I knew it, he promised a 'real good' price on a Fleetguard filters: AH19037 and 3894 if I brought him a taste of smoked salmon when I picked the filters up.

I brought him a couple of pounds of smoked salmon and in return I got the AH19037 for $38 CDN = $30. 65 US

3894 Stratopore for $8. 25 CDN = $6. 63 US.

I'll be buying all my filters from him, even it is 700 miles away.

Terry

Does anyone have the Fleetguard number for the filter that's similar to the AH 19037, except it has a metal shield or guard around the outside?

I think I read about it on TDR a while back, but of course I didn't write down the part number.

The Napa 6637 I bought has a wire mesh on the outside. This a cross to the AH1141. Fits behind the battery on my 2001. 5 very nicely. SNOKING

What I'm thinking of is more like the BHAF is mounted inside a big can. Definitely more than wire mesh.

I saw one on a Dodge in a diesel repair shop, but there was no part number showing. I also think I read about it here, but maybe it was somewhere else.

I remember reading about the heater duct shielding, but I thought I also read about a Fleetguard filter that had something similar right out of the box.

Oh well, they say the memory is one of the first things to go!! Looks like I may be living proof of that.

That is probably it. That number crosses to a Fleetguard AH 1196. If Fleetguard publishes airflow specs, I haven't yet found them, but I will look around some more on their site.

Seems like the enclosure would guard against some of the concerns people have posted about water getting into the intake system through an unprotected filter, such as from splashing through high water. It might also be quieter.

Call a Cummins dealer for Fleetguard AH19037. Cummins Midstates, in Indianapolis,IN runs $38. 65. It has a wire mesh, very sturdy outside to it. Outerwears prefilter for it is $26. 75. pn WR3325-105 #800-967-3450. Its a water repellant prefilter. Scheids has ordered them for me through Cummins Midstates. Right now they are backordered, I'm waiting for one.
