AF25541 Some ive bought had the foam pre-filter glued to the bottom, and some dont. What gives? Witch is better. TIA Bill

Personally I like amsoil filters, just preference. They have the pre-filter on them and are good for something like 4 years/100,000 miles they say. And are cleanable. Go on-line and check it out. It seemed to flow good air on my truck.

Seem to me that they started to put the foam on the bottom (pre filter) in 96 filters before that did not have the foam on them. The wix filters that my mechanic uses does not have the foam.

The pre-filter filter I have has the very dense foam on it. The way I see it. Getting air through that dense pre-filter is gonna be tough. The denser the filter medium the less air your engine gets and the hotter the exhaust will be. I'm going back to the K&N filter. JMHO

Thats what I thought. I put a new fleetguard on (old one had 45k on it) and the truck seems to smoke less.
