I did a search and came up with diffrent views on this. The question is are the flex plates the same for a 89 diesel 727 transmission - 02 diesel auto ? I need to get a replacement for an 89 . I would like to go with an aftermarket one if any one has any ideas . Thanks for the help

I am told that people are LOOKING for a flex plate FROM a 1989/1990 truck because they are so much heavier than any of the others out there.

I have a pretty good source on that info from a local guy who built up a 1997 with auto transmission. I have never seen my flex plate personally. I just know it's in there.

If you do replace it with a heavy plate intended for "race" you could likley sell it to a performance shop.

I never hear of a 1989/1990 tearing the center out like the 1991 -up.

I need one for a 89 because it has torn the center out of two or three . It has over 450,000 miles on it and a couple of transmission rebuilds . wanting to find out if a newer model one will fit without any issues .

I have the replacement number. It is for a 1995 -up to what I don't know. Cummins No. 3946161

I used the SFI No. A435006 from PDR in Canada in my 1992. The only difference I am told is that the OEM 1989-1990 has no holes where as the others, the plate is stamped full of holes.
