"Friction Fit" exhaust tip?

I have a new flexplate on the way. It's "experimental" My original is cracked I think and I called Piers to order their beefier one today. They informed me that they were having some issues with clearance with them. Not on all trucks, just some so they are no longer selling them until they get it figured out. Hats off and THUMBS UP to Piers for not selling something that they are not sure is right. (I really wanted one though... . LOL)

Anywho, called Goerends since thats where my transmission came from. They are working on one that is basically a stock one with a heavier center section welded in. Not too many of them out there yet, but I'm gonna give it a try. I don't need the super expensive billet flexplate so I thought this might be a good stock replacement for us "normal" bombed guys if there is such a thing as "normal bombing". Should be at the house Thursday, I'll let ya know how it goes.

Disclaimer: I dont know if Goerends is advertising this part or if it is officially on the market. This is not an advertisement for them. They simply returned my phone call from Saturday when I was looking for some troubleshooting assistance. Just wanted to let the TDR folks know what I stumbled across.

Dave sent me one to play with and didn't really care for it. I thought that the welding might add to the stress of a stock plate. In my opinion, the cat plate that Piers sells is the best buy, its twice as thick and is SFI approved. There clearances are really not to spec, but have never had a problem with one.

If we're talking about the same plate (the one Piers has on the website), thats the one I wanted but they are pulling it for now because of clearance issues. They said only a few had clearance problems, but that was a few too many, they want them all to be right.
