Brake wire from recptical (Prodigy) where?

MPG info

We were at Lake Martinez, AZ recently and after coming in from a morning of fishing, my neighbor and I were sitting in the shade sipping a few cool ones. He had a silver and black Newmar diesel pusher motorhome and I had my little 11. 5 Arctic Fox slide in which was off the truck.

He was staring at the side of my rig and casually mentioned that I had 47 flies on the side of my 11. 5 camper and he didn't have but 3 on his 38' rig. He razzed me a little about how Arctic Fox attracted flies and his Newmar was virtually free of them.

The temperature was about 90, so my theory was the white surface was cooler, whereas his silver and black was hotter. He didn't think much of my theory so I said I would get some expert opinions from the TDR website. Anyone won't to back me up?

I believe that a fly, not being warm blooded can't get enough heat so the white vrs black would make no difference here.

but I do know bugs are attracted to light, the white reflects the light and would be almost twice as bright as the black color.

What do you think?

Heard a good fly joke

Fella was killing flies and other fella ask how it was going:

First guy said "Killed 3 male flies, 2 female flies"

Second guy said "How do you know if it is a male fly or a female fly?"

First guy said "If it lands on a beer can it's a male fly, If it lands on the telephone it's a female fly"

How would anyone count 47 flies, and why would they

want to ?? Maybe the two of you should take a shower

after coming in from fishing ??? :p :p

Underdog - I can't believe your post. You count the fly’s legs and divide by something. As to why would they want to, when you have as much money in your equipment as some folks do, you can't afford to do anything else. Besides, you need some excitement when you return from fishing.

rweis - I can vouch for the first guy. I have seen it myself.

Did you guys ever consider the flies were attracted to the better rig?

Next car show you go to, look at all of the insects that will be on a yellow vehicle. There will be more on that one than the next 6 or 8.

If the flies were attractesd to the more expensive rig, the Newmar would have won hands down. It was new and cost over $200,000, and my Arctic Fox slide in is 3 years old and cost $25k.

With that in mind, the theory of the flies liking the more expensive rig just doesn't fly. ROTFLMAO!

:-{} Reddog:

Were you referring to flies or fries preferring the better rig? I don't know if mine is the better rig now or not since a Lance owner said the flies would damage my fiberglass siding. They did just that. I had to scrub pretty hard to get the fly crap off when I got home.

I think flies liking the white surfaces has to do with the temperature and the white is cooler in the sun. In fact I won a $20. 00 bet from a friend and fellow crew member one time when we got into a discussion about automotive paint.

We were walking across a parking lot from the aircrew transit quarters to the NCO club in Zaragoza, Spain one blazing hot afternoon for a cool one when the discussion got started.

I was in the market for a new car and told him if we were going to stay in West Texas I was getting a white car since they refleced the heat and didn't absorb it. He laughed and said it didn't make any difference. That was when I decided I could take him for a few dollars.

He bet me twenty dollars a white car and a black car would have the same surface temperature. (he had a college education) We walked around the lot until we found a black car and a white one. He placed his hand on the black car and quickly pulled it back. A short ways across the lot was a white car and when he placed his hand on it, unlike the black car surface he could keep his hand on it. Needless to say I had a free dinner and free drinks the rest of the evening.

dewdo - I meant flies preferring the better rig.

I will take the Lance owner's word for flies damaging the fiberglass siding. I will have to admit being a bit skeptical.
