I just got finished with my first and last flood damaged (completely submerged saltwater) truck. I would not buy one myself. The engine was stuck, turbo locked, electrical system had to be completely replaced. The owner will get it back tomorrow and send it to a transmission shop next.

Marvel mystery oil works great to get a engine unstuck.

Been there done that! A friend of mine 01 dually dodge diesel rolled into his pond and he bought it back from the insurance company ,so we drained all the water out of it within 4 hours of it going completly under fresh pond water for 2 hours and Man what a time it was to get it going again! first one of the batterys was ruined! then after we got all the water out of the engine , trans and rear end, we took the interior out to dry and had to replace the windshield due to a small rock chip and the water pressure it cracked the windshield top to bottom, then the electric mirrors didnt work anymore so had to replace the mirror mtrs, then the speedo didnt read the miles, the heater valve stuck under the dash and for some reason the A/C freon was drained? never could figure that one out! drained the tanks several times to remove water in fuel light, and so after we got the truck running we had a water leak on the back side of head between block and head where we didnt get all the water out ( later find out that this seems to be common problem when submerged in water due to some kind of air lock in the compression chamber?) and when we took head off the cyls looked badly Stained? Pond water must be very corrosive too? so we honed cyls and put head back on! now after 1 year of cleaning all the bulbs and electrical contacts everything is back to normal! I can Imagine what Salt water would do! good luck!

What year of a truck was it? Was it a Katrina truck?

It was a 99 2500 2wd with an auto trans. It was flooded before Katrina but I am not shure from what hurricane.

The injector pump and ECM work but my scanner shows a code P1689 for no communication between ECM and injector pump. It may need a new ECM. The salt dissolved the protective coating on the PCM board so I replaced it. I replaced all of the wiring harnesses also.
