We are looking for a new or newish 30-35 ft 5er with a rear kitchen and a desk. Also the bed needs to be in a slideout.

Carriage made one a couple of years but I can't find one. Also Open Road. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Fleetwood-they make Prowler and Terry and a couple others. I'm not sure if they offer what you are looking for in a 5er but they offer something like that in a TT. Good Luck

Was impressed with the HR Alumiscape 5ers when I bought my bumper pull. You can get them in double, triple or quad slides. Check em out here.

You can check out the Doubletree Mobile Suites floorplans HERE. NICE 5th wheels!! :D

Rusty

They are NICE, check out how they are made, also check out they do the heat and ac. I would say for the money, they are the best value. They really compare to units much more expensive.

Gotta Cardinal by Forest River here. Two years with no problems and they have several different floorplans. I usually just google forest river. Also check out Landmark 5er's they seem real nice too.

Rusty,

I looked at Double Tree and they were really nice but man oh man did they have a nice price tag to boot, lol.

If this is your first fifth wheel, you might want to rethink the rear kitchen. Most long time RV'ers don't want rear kitchens since that is the area of the trailer that bounces the most when hitting bumps. I know a number of rear kitchen owners that report broken dishes, scattered utensils, etc. and have to pack very carefully to avoid breakage. For the same reason, rear kitchens may be harder to resell. Center kitchen and rear living room keeps things in place the best. Your choice...

Got the same info from fultimers myself. My kitchen is right on top of the wheels and things pretty much stay put now the rear is another story as stated. Most manufacturers now are offering what is called 3 in 1 floor plans where you can swap places with the couch and recliners. My couch is in the slide and the recliners are at the rear some and vice versa in other couches. The floorplan really depends on where you want the most usuable space.

Since I am fultime I wanted more space in the kitchen, bedroom slide and a large shower. Try not to invest in things you do not need and if you go new there are some things you can add yourself and save alot of money. I have said this before that my 5er came ready for another a/c above the bedroom, I added it myself at a cost of around $500. Figure the cost of that a/c unit if figured into the length of terms on the coach.

Good luck in your search I know what a pain in the rear it is trying to find one. I went through the whole shopping around mess 2 years ago and hated it. Best thing you can do is to set down and figure what you want to spend and the options you will really use and find the floorplan that will work best for you.

thanks for all the help and suggestions about saving $$$$ and the rear kitchen. the search goes on... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

Lizzy,

You mentioned Carriage have you looked at the Cameo LXI F35CKQ and the F33CKQ? Looks like the same floor plan but different tailer length. Both of these have a center kitchen with a desk.

I have a Cedar Creek (made by Forest River) 30 foor rear kitchen model, we love it. No desk but the bedroom had a Queen size bed you can get at from both sides, it's surprising how much room you have with only 30' and two slides. I also heard about the broken dishes etc with a RK and I spoke to many RVers about this before buying it and learned if you have a decent trailer with good suspension (shocks) it's not really an issue. I never had a problem but the only real trip I did with it was 2400miles from Ky to Wa. We're actually planning to sell it this spring since we're looking for a house.

Good luck,

Mike
