Will a B&M Megashifter work with an auto transmission on a 96 12 valve?

I got a part # of BMM-80690 off of Summit racing website.

I like the sytle but haven't found in any floor shifters description that it works with my model transmission.

On a 2WD, couldn't you use the center console from a 4WD and mount the shifter where the T-case shifter would normally be? Just curious.

It is too far forward. Most of these guys are gonna use if for compettion so out comes the center console. I suppose if you didn't mind a little bit of a reach it could fit up there.

I am going with a Lokar floor mount shifter, 23" in length to still keep the stock height of the hand shaker I had in it. The B&M truck shifter will work, I just do not like the look of it or the fact I have to reach down to shift. The Lokar will come out of the stock shift boot and look just like a manual, and the LED display is remote from Lokar with a little help from Dakota Digital, you just have to do a little home work. I have all the P/N's and they make a few different sizes. I will get pics up on my web site when I am ready to install. I can also get you pics of an installed B&M shifter. BTW the Lokar does have lock out reverse, and is rod operated unlike the B&M cable operation.

I have a Lokar 23" floor shifter that mounts to the transmission body that I will be using for my transmission conversion. I have mine mocked up on the auto sitting on the garage floor and it looks like it is going to work out great. Like SpicyJam said, it will come out where the stock manual shift lever used to be and be about the same height. The one I ordered is for a 518 transmission and all the brackets and mounts have worked out perfectly.

I was worried about the tail mount that is why I went with the floor mount for the 518. They are kind of spendy otherwise I would have liked to see how the other one fit, but I think I will be alright, the LED display is also remote so I will add that to the OEM floor counsel... ... ... ... I dunno, guess to see the results.

I found a "How To" for installing the Lokar 23" transmission mounted shifter that I have for my auto conversion. The brackets and fit up look identical to mine, but I haven't fine tuned the front - back location on the saddle yet because I am not sure how far back it will need to sit. I hope to start the auto conversion soon, so I will make sure to let you know how it works out!

Looks good, mine is not the classic, but just 23" of being straight. Should have some pics in a couple of weeks as getting the chrome parts took some time. So now I am off getting it all back together.

Did you get the remote indicator? I did and it looks real nice, I had to use dakota digitals control unit, the LED display was like 35. 00 and the control unit was 80. 00. PM me if you want the numbers off of what I got. Again looks good... ... ... so much better than the B&M unit.
