:( The clutch pedal in my 2500 98. 5 five speed truck is floppy for the first two inches of travel. It also takes hold about 1. 5 inches off the floor. Is there a spring or something in the transmission that lifts the pedal back up?? It has happened in the last week or so. Just after we towed back to New England from Arizona. I have 82,000 miles on the truck and about 35,000 of that is towing a 32 foot fifth wheel.

Would a throwout bearing do that????

It sounds like you have air in the system. Check the hydraulic system for leaks and make sure that there is a good level in the resisvoir. It may be as simple as adding fluid and bleeding the system.

Terry,

I checked the fluid level and it is full and also clean. Also checked the peddle piviot and the piston connection to the pedal arm and they look good. I hate to go to a shop without having some idea of what 's wrong.

mine was pretty sloppy too. I took out some of the freeplay with a little adjustment. (grind & re-weld) Much happier now
