just wondering if anyone running flowmaster exhaust on an 05 with cat,just wondering how it sounds compared to a straight through,i have bully dog now,just always liked the flowmaster sound

general rule of thumb on any turbocharged application is to stay away from baffled mufflers like the flowmaster. Staright thru mufflers allow the turbo to spool faster. There is no restriction.

Ask any GN owner that is doing mods. They will tell you the same thing.

With the baffle design of the flowmaster, I'd think it would start plugging up over time from soot buildup. Granted It may take a LONG time to do so. It's not made out of stainless either but does come with a shiny tip. :-{}

stock one will too with that thinking... and the cat will definately plug up. . [i know that from first hand experience with the gm 6. 5TD with cat. . ]

You are right they are chambered. It is a 50 series muffler that is not straight through though. #ad

your right they are chambered, but the plates in the chambers are what causes the exhaust pulses that reduce spool up time.

The Flowmaster #53553 muffler I use on my truck has been great..... no "stopping up", great sound (a tad louder than stock at normal cruising range, but sounds great when you get on it) and no drone that others have complained about (and ended up using an extra muffler or resonator)... ... no problems with my dyno #'s either.

never once said it will stop up. It will however hurt turbo spool up and performance. Don't mind me though. I haven't yet figured out how to make any HP.

Get the Rokktech muffler, it is a straight through design. Most of the ID is 4" with the exception of 3 expansion holes that lets pressure into the surrounding area. At freeway boost (~5PSI) can't hear it. As the boost gets higher the muffler can start to be heard as the boost starts building as the speed starts coming up. This muffler will "bark" if asked to. Some people have assured me that I am #1 when they pi$$ me off.

Then why are you in the diesel performance business? :-laf
