Archived Fluid all over under truck!

I have a problem. I looked under the truck when I got home and it looks like the transfer case is leaking where the front drive shaft connects. How bad of a fix is this . Is it safe to drive to the dealer. Is there a way to check the fluid. This is where I think it is coming. I cant tell because everything is covered fluid. Even got up on the tailgate.

If infact it is the transfer case than the oil will be red, you can check and fill using the same hole , its on the back of the T-case and requires a big allen wrench like maybe 3/8 " any how this will be the level to fill where the plug comes out, fill it till oil runs back out the hole, dont know how far to your dealer but I would first want to see how fast it runs back out???... ... ... ... ..... I think I have the same thing happening, I think mine is just starting to do it. I notice the fluid just at the point of the driveshaft and everything else is dry. Is this covered under the drivetrain 100K warranty? Is it just a seal gone bad?

sounds like you both have the same problem. The seal is easy to do, I can't say if it's covered by warrantee.



To do the seal, first mark the driveshaft flange and the output shaft flange so you can reassemble it the same way you took it apart.



Unbolt the front driveshaft from the t-case flange.



Take the nut off holding the flange to the output shaft and pull the flange off (you'll probably need a puller).



Pop out the old seal. If you have fluid running out (you probably will), either drain the fluid down a bit or put the front of the truck up before you start.



Before installing the new seal, smear a dab of grease around the inside and lip of the seal and smear a thin coating of your favorite silicaon sealer around the outside edge to help it seal.



Carefully tap the new seal into place with a plastic or deadblow hammer.



Reassemble the flange and reinstall the shaft.

Called the dealer, I don't have time to do it myself this week but it is covered under the drivetrain warrantee so I am going to have them do it sat morning while I wait.

got it fixed, no charge and done in a few hours at the dealer
