I'm not too far from my first oil change in the 05 and was considering changing all of the drivetrain fluids as well. I'll be using all Redline products as I've heard nothing but good stories from users. Here's what I'm thinking, correct me if I'm wrong:

Trans: Redline MTL

T-Case: Redline C+ATF

Diffs: Redline 75W90NS

I've done some searching but can't seem to find the differences between the C+ATF and the D4 ATF. Which one is the most suitable for our T-Cases? Also, I wanted to make sure that the NS gear oil is what I want in the diffs, I mean from what I've read, there is no need for the stuff with the friction modifier already added, right?

TIA

I guess nobody on this forum knows anything about Redline fluids. :(

I can't speak intelligently about Redline products in particular, but I can say that with the 11. 5 inch rear end NO friction modifier is required.

Rbattelle,

thanks for the reply, I was fairly certain on that issue but you have helped to reassure me. I know there are a lot of guys out there running Redline. I don't want to start a brand war as I already know what brand I like, I was just curious what other CTD owners where using in there trucks and why they chose the particular grade of oil that they did. Thanks Again.

John,

Thanks again for all the info. You must have some sort of super search powers or something. I think I will go with the 75w140 in the rear. I'm still undecided on the trans. You are correct, it is still the NV5600. All I know is that I'm hoping if I change to the Redline in the transmission it will squelch some of the growling this thing makes when I am creeping around the farm with it. I don't think it's abnormal, just that all the gears are maybe not seated together yet. I have been noticing that it is getting broke in a little more all the time as it is getting easier to find gears.

I wouldn't use 75-140 when the manual calls for 75w90. Most are running 75w90 with no problems and if you need 140 to avoid problems , something is wrong with your axle. You should be fine with the redline fluids you listed in your first post - although MTL is very thin. Some folks in hot climates were not happy with its performance in warm weather. Others found mt90 too thick for cold... most were much happier using mobil 1 in the trans. The amsoil 2000 is also reportedly pretty thick and stiff during cold weather. Take it for what it's worth, but thats just what I've seen over the past 5 years following these and other diesel forums. .

Here's my list and what I used marked with *:

NV5600: *Pennzoil #3501 Sycromesh fluid (meets Dodge spec, ms9224)

Redline MTL

Mopar Manual Fluid 4844464

NV271: *Mopar ATF+4

Amsoil syn universal ATF

Amsoil +C

Diffs: *Mobil 1 75W-90

Mopar 75W-90 GL5 Syn

Amsoil 75w-90

It would be nice to be able to use the same fluid in both the trans and xfer case.
