I read the TDR article and decided to get one. Good thing, the stock damper was shot. Has anyone actually used the ESS wire extension kit that comes with it? Big bulky wire connectors and an equally large 2 piece connector. No thanks. I just soldered and shrink wrapped about 10 inches of three colored wires to extend the stock harness. I got the impression that the kit was to extend the length of the ESS harness?

At any rate, the engine idles a little smoother, which is good. Also, shifting into 3rd gear seems easier. Why would that be?

I used the harness that came with the damper.

My old connector was brittle with the lock broken off.

I just cut and soldered the new one on, and then figured out how to route the excess length around the engine bay.

I have not fired the engine up yet. So on the rest I am not able to comment.

They must have changed since I got mine several years ago. All mine came with was a relocation bracket for the originas ESS. I think mine is a bit smoother also Gary.

Ya, I'm not crazy about that bracket either. Now to change belts I have to remove the sensor, and if the belt breaks it will probably take out the sensor wiring. That reminds me, I need to go to a hardware store and get some clamps for the extended wire harness.
