Stock Harmonic Balancer is shot.

Cummins replacement is $175.

Would it be worth it to swap in a Fluidampr or is stock just fine?

I've read a lot about the Fluidampr, but are they worth the $$$?

I've heard good things about them on stock trucks with a gov. kit. Once they got their problems straightened out with the tach sensor bracket, and the shipping times came down, they seem to have a pretty good product.

Huh, $175 sounds like a lot for a stocker. I replaced the one on my '96 not long ago & seems it was $110ish. Got it from PDR as I recall. Couldn't tell one bit of difference, so maybe my original was fine. I just read somewhere they should be replaced by 350,000, and I was 30k overdue.

I love my Fluidampr

I have had a Fluidampr on the truck for about a month now. Right off the bat I noticed a new "smoothness" through out. The engine seems to rev easier too. It other words I am at 2200 rpms and I don't notice it.

It is tough to explain but imagine your engine, trans and leaf springs are all on super, super soft mounts. It feels like all vibration is gone w/ the new Fluidampr.

If your going to 5K you what a good solid damper. . Guys with a DD clutches and billet 3-5 disc convs. need them also. The Fluidampr helps out the added weight on the rear of the crank.

5k?? Why you going to a manual?? I don't think the 2. 8 chargers can move enough air to support the cummins at 5k. Of course you could get one and bush it down. Also you have a automatic, just grab another gear. Unless your going with a wild cam and a huge charger, I don't think 5K is the answer. Most of the guys that turn 5k only use if for building boost. Running down the track they are probably around the 4000-4500 mark. Of course I could be way off, this is just stuff the little voices in my head discuss in their free time. But think about it, another 1k is 25% more air that is going to have to go thru the engine and charger. I see plenty of heat now and I have noticed I don't have an egt issue under 3300 or so. I get up around 3800 while pulling and I read 1750 on on set of probes and the BD xmonitor always reads 1873 exactly. LOL. What kind of deals can you get on the fluiddampers??
