Ideas for getting tractors from Iowa to NC?

Also, most of the certified

scales will do a reweigh if you do not leave the lot, for free. Talk to the fuel desk and if its not busy they may let you weigh w/o trailer then with it under the reweigh. Pay for only one weigh but get 2 slips. Another thought is when I take cardboard to the recycler, get weight going and coming, and paid for the cardboard. Check if there is a recycler around to just get the truck weight (they use split scales also but you have to ask first for the split weight).

Bob Cochran: for an unloaded/lightly loaded dually the numbers on the door panel is about the best. I came to that after about a year of trial and error.

25PSI will be a little light. The rear end will wiggle because of the lack of pressure. I found that it started to wiggle under 40PSI. You start to take a chance of de-beading the tire which will be like a blow out.

Dan I agree on the rear tire pressure I calculated at 25 PSI. I am thinking like you should up that to 35 or 40 in each tire even though though it calculaes to the lower pressure Just not comfortable with it. Yet was wondering what others was doing.

As for the 5er it has a gwv of 14100 # and even though I don't think I will hit that number normally. I hink it makes sense to fill the trailer tires to max sidewall recommended PSI that I think is 80 or 85 PSI if for nothing else to keep sidewall flex down.

Thanks Ben also for your hint.

also check your local gravel pits, they have long scales for the double dump sets. the one I buy gravel from will let me weigh on saturdays after their trucks are done for the day.
