I have a '99 2500 Laramie without the factory foglights. Does anyone know if the wiring for the fog lights there and just needs to be id'd and hooked up, or because it wasn't optioned from the factory, it isn't in the harness? Anyone used the factory wiring to add fog/driving lights like this to a truck that didn't come optioned this way? Where is the switch placement for the factory fog lights? Thanks.

Some have said that the wiring was there but it wasn't on mine. The Dodge kit which I paid about $160. 00 for has a relay, all the wiring you need, a relay and a new headlight switch, the fogs are turned on after the lights are on by pulling out on the headlight switch knob. Also comes with instruction sheet. If you hook it up like they show, the fogs won't come on with brights but that can be remedied by just not connecting a red wire. bg

I have them in from the factory.

It also seemed that the dash switch was marginal, and with all the stock lights some guys had the dash switch fail.

The factory dash/dimmer/headlight switch pulled out to turn on the factory driving lights.

If it were me, I would just do all aftermarket wiring and put the lights in there, use a seperate switch so you have more control over them.

The stock switch is set up so that when you hit your highbeams, those stock driving lights turn off.

For some years, at least through 2000 model year, you could not get factory fog lights with the auto transmission due to clearance issues with the trans cooler. I heard Dodge did have a retrofit kit or something for the auto people though but I don't know what is included in it or what the part number is.

Maybe the V10's were different but I had a 99 2500 4x4 V10 and auto and it had factory fog lights. I have a 02 ctd with auto and I have looked at the harness up front and I believe the harness is all there just need to put in lights and different switch.

Mines a factory CTD Auto, all towing options and coolers and factory driving lights in the little holes.

Mine didn't have the fogs when I bought it but I noticed a harness right behind the radiator underneath the truck. It was the factory feed for the fogs. I bought the Mopar kit and it came with everything, including the new headlight switch. It also came with a wiring harness to make it work with any truck but I used the factory wiring and it works great, even the headlight switch was just plug and play. I was told that the trucks came that way but I don't know what year it started. You might check under the radiator behind the front crossmen=mber to see if you have a split loom covered wire pair that ends in a female plug.

The books said they would not fit but I installed many, and they worked just fine.

The wiring depended on what optoins you had on the truck. If you find an extra connector underneath the core support you saved a bunch of work. You will only have to add the harness to the lamps and install a switch. Making sure the relay and fuse is installed in the pdc.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that the relay for the foglights that fits into the PDC is only there to disable the foglights on high beam. If you remove it and place a jumper between pin 85 and 87 (I think) your fogs will stay on with the high beams. The pins are the two that run the length of the truck and are the top and bottom of the four if that makes any sense.
