Ok, so I installed the foglights. They have the 896 bulbs, not the 9006. Crap. The truck was built in Mexico, so it has the connection for the fog lights. However, from the connection, to the lights, something is missing... namely, the harness.

Any suggestions? Here on Ebay( that would be in Germany), there is a harness for 2002 Ram 1500. However, PN 560455 01 AC:{... I think this is for the 9006 bulbs. Crap again... Can anyone give me a PN for the correct harness? Or any other suggestions? OK, comments that I am an idiot are unnecessary... I know this already... but I appreciate your help... Jonathan

My 98. 5 the harness was already in from the factory. I installed switch and bulbs and relay in fuse panel. And away I went.

Thanks... but my 2001 has the plug under the radiator... need a 'jumper' to go from the plug to the Fog lights... I am going to call a dealer in the States, and see if I can get a PN. Maybe the PN 56045501AC will work... Thanks JK

The PN I need is 6800338 AA Dealer cost is 106$, from Jim's Auto 82$... Maybe I can find one used...

KrisKringle,

If you're not too fixated on keeping the wiring factory stock, have you thought about building your own harness? Sure would save some big bucks.

Fixated, nope... but I would still need to get the plugs for the lights. Thanks

Bought a set of 2nd gen take out fog lights, can't remember if they are 883 or 896 bulbs in them. I did have to buy two pigtails to fit the bulbs.

Carquest Part Number is 57-5195. See jpg image below.

Is this it????

Looks right... Jeepers, it appears that there are no carquest's in the area...

I figured that you were a ways from the nearest Carquest... . :-laf

I was hoping you could cross the number into something available over there.

If that fails I may be able to break it down into the components.

Also think there is a Dodge Part Number for it as well.

Will dig deeper.

thanks. I am going to stop by the local parts house here and see what is available. If that fails, I can go by the Junkyard and ask... but I doubt anything will come of the visit to the Junkyard. There is also an electrical supplier named Conrad. I will try to google their site, and see if they have something for the 896 bulbs. Easiest would be to call the CQ in Collegeville, order the damn things, and my Father can throw them in an envelope. I just hate to cut the factory plug and 'patch' something in... OK, maybe I am a bit of a purist... Thanks again... Jonathan

No light

Well... last visit to the states, and I picked up the harness... hooked it up, put the relay in, and turned on the switch (I installed the factory that you pull to turn on the fog lights... no lights... I guess I need to get out the volt meter and see what is going on. Is there a different switch in the 2001? I thought that in 2001 the switch was integral with the HL switch...

Listen to my little tale,

I wanted to add the overhead temp display to the '97, wiring was already installed out on the frame for the temp probe along with wiring for foglights. Fuse box is ready to accept the relays as well.

BUT, everything stops at the bulkhead connecter inside of the cab. To make the overhead display work I had to identify the two wires for the temp probe that terminated at that big plug and hook onto them right there when I built the harness and added a probe for the display.

I am sure that when I add my foglights the same will apply.

It would appear that most truck frames are wired for the extra goodies, but the cab harness is different depending on options at least in '97.

Could this be the case with your truck???

You might be lacking the wiring from the switch to that connecter??????

Are there any unused terminals on the new switch???

Mike.

I will pull the switch and take a look... as well as pull up the wiring diagram and see what should be there... Thanks. JK

Well, it took a while, but I pulled out the switch... yep, terminals are there, but poking around, I did not see a lonely two-prong plug waiting for a partner. :{

So I guess it is out with the diagram to see where the corresponding (two) wires need to be run. I managed to find a plug on a junk 1999 Dodge Caravban at the shop where I help out, so at least one end of it is under way... now for the other end... Any ideas?
