Hey,

Has anyone thought of switching the high and low wiring going to the lamp assembly. (just a thought) It may reverse the logic, the only down side I can see is that "fog" lights will have to be used by themselves if high beems are not or can not be used due to on-coming vehicles, wich they probally shound'nt be anyway. I wonder if there is a place to make the wiring change without pulling the lens assembly.

With 2" of front lift and 315/70/17 tires, the front of my truck sits about 3. 5" higher than stock. I rigged mine to come on with the high beams with a relay. I love it, perfect light pattern. Of course I adjusted the head lights and fog lights for the perfect light pattern. I don't use fogs with low beams, I don't like blinding people that are coming towards me a 65 mph.

During a seminar at the 2002 Nationals, Mopar said the truck computer does a lot more now. No longer can we splice in aftermarket stuff, etc. without risk. I don't know if the computer is involved with this stuff, but there is a possibility you can cause some problems.

What I'm thinking of is to remove the multi-function switch and add a resistor. (migh see if the dealer has one I could look at first)

There are 4 wires from the switch that control all the functions. (wash, wiper delay and speeds, high beam and optical horn) The resistance is varied beween pairs of wires and sensed by the computer.

For example, reading between pins 1 and 2:

infinite (open)... ... ... ..... Off

518 - 575 ohm... ... ... ... . High beam

1257 - 1397 ohm... ... ... Optical horn

2584 - 2871 ohm... ... ... Wash

If I can add a resistor to get 800 ohms more when the switch is in the high beam position, the computer would think it was optical horn position and keep EVERYTHING lit.

Am I nuts, or on to a really inexpensive (but maybe sort of labor insensive) and worthwhile BOMB? Maybe some input from the electronics experts out there?
