2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Very Hot Light Switch Problem

I'm looking at buying a new set of fog lights for my truck. The current ones are aftermarket and both glass lenses are broke (19. 95 specials!). Anyway I'm not sure if the truck came with factory fog lights but there are some on eBay that feature the correct factory mounting brackets. Are there any tricks to install these?

i don't know but i need some too. . i like the way those look :)

my truck didn't come with them so i am wondering if i'll have to be installig a new switch or do they turn on with the regular lights?

Three headlight switches were used for model year 2000 Rams:

56021673AD SWITCH, Headlamp w/Cargo Lamp

56021674AD SWITCH, Headlamp w/o Cargo Lamp

56021675AE SWITCH, Headlamp w/Cargo Lamp & Foglamp

If you're adding foglamps to your truck you will need to provide some method of supplying power.

You'll need the different light switch, as Thomas said. You'll also need a relay for the power distribution center under the hood. And finally, you'll need a small wiring harness that connects the lights to each other and plugs into a harness behind the bumper (the plug is already there even if your truck came without the lights). I didn't order the lights on my truck, but I added them later. I bought the brackets, lights, and harness from a friend. Then I got the switch and relay from the dealer. Took the bumper off and carved out the holes (sight shields) and put it back together. It was very easy, and it looks like the truck came with them.

It's a heck of a lot easier, and I bet it would be quicker - even if you could do it with the bumper on (and I don't know that you could anyway). The bumper is a piece of cake to take off and put back on. It doesn't even weigh much - I did it by myself with no extra help.
