2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fog lite bulbs!

Have factory fog lites on 2001. 5,burnt one bulb,GE#896,cant find replacement without going to Dodge, went to Can Tire, they looked it up, computer said not available yet-do not order, get from Dodge only. explanation was that they are not allowed to sell this item til after 3 yrs. Anyway i looked at some other bulbs-GE#984,985,and 988, the connections and the mounting fit just a different number,anyone know if these other numbers of bulbs would have different brightness or dimmness.

I purchased a pair of the 896 bulbs for my model year 2000 Ram in some retail store about 10 months ago. I don't remember the store (Kragen, AutoZone, Pep Boys ???). Unless the bulbs have been pulled from dealer shelves, they are available at outlets other than your Mopar parts counter.

I had the same problem and came up with about the same results, especially out here on the rock. I went to the dealer right before closing, not on purpose but might have helped. The guy came out, wrote down the vin and handed me the new light bulb I had asked for. Less than 10mins and I was set. For the $$$ you shelled out for this truck, I think they can kickdown a bulb or two. Good luck.
