I have read on here and other forums that it is possible for the dealer to use the starscan (or whatever it is currently called) to change the setting in the computer to allow the use of the highbeams and the foglights at the same time. They just say it is possible, but not how to do it.

I had the truck in for some other computer flashes and the tech and I looked for the right screen but could not find it. What I need is the steps and/or specific screen to change this. I have also heard it is possible to do this with the bullydog or possibly the smarty, anybody able to confirm this?

Preemptive flame retardant: :-laf

-- YES, I know it is illegal in most states to have both on.

-- YES, I could buy the brite box, but a simple computer flash will do basically the same thing for a lot less. (no low beam at the same time)

-- YES, I realize that the fog shine down and the highs go up, not a good combination in the fog. I just like the extra light at other times.

-- No, I don't really want to wire the foglights hot all the time.

-- I know on the older trucks there was a relay or other things to jumper, that is not recommended or as easy on the can-bus systems.

Thanks.

mine did not come with fog lights. I bought the factory set installed and they wored!

they even stay on with the high beams!

I thought if you told the star tool, you are in mexico, it would allow the lights to be turned on with high beams.

As long as you are having a Dealer setup up the Fogs w/High beams, might just as well turn on the High Idle and Daytime Running Lights too.

Starscan tool commands: DISCLAIMER... . this worked on my 2009 2500 - no issues from the dealer

Fog Lights w/High Beams

Enabling:

You need to setup the computer to make it think it's in a different country. Basically, you have to make your truck think that it's being Exported to Mexico/Canada. The Starscan procedures are as follows:

Starscan Main Menu > ECU view > FCM/CGW > Misc. Functions > Enable Front Fog Lamp Output > Start > Next > Disable > Next > Cancel > Start > Next > Enable > Next > Export > Next > Finish

Manual High Idle

Enabling

You must activate this option in the truck's computer. This requires a downloader style programmer such as the Smarty or PMT, or a dealership using the Starscan. The Starscan procedures are as follows:

Starscan Main Menu > ECU View > PCM > Misc. Functions > Idle Up Feature Enable > Start > Next > Next > Enable > Next > Finish

DTR Lights

Enabling

StarScan Main Menu > ECM VIEW > TIPMGCW > MISC OPTIONS > DRL ENABLE > START > follow the directions.

Thanks for the instructions. I am curious what other unkown effects changing the country has on the truck or computer. I have been told that it can mess other things up, but I don't know what for sure.

Will the odometer read KM after that setting?

I am glad Dodge allows a CHOICE of DRL use. I personally do not want it on my truck. I would like to have the fog lights on with the high beams though.

Can't imagine what "other things" this messes up... ..... its just a feature setting turned on / activated. I've had zero issues after getting this done.
