Did my trip to FL and back in April. Have put some more miles on it. And of course some questions arise when I am hyper sensitive to anything and every thing.
Observations are as follows:
1. Cold starts are perfect. Even without grid heater they are perfect. No smoke at all. Little bit of odor, but I think that is very consistent with previous injectors.
2. MPG is off by about 6. Pre injectors on the lie o meter I would start the tank high 20's and then slowly creep down to 24.xxx unloaded. Now I start at 22 flat and creep down to 18.xxx. I knew it was going to happen, but I am still pretty disappointed. Hand calculation is always spot on at the end of the tank.
3. That being said on my trip to FL from NH I made it deep into VA before needing fuel, and then made it the rest of the way to Titusville with no fill up.
4. Towing 16K I was stuck at 12 the whole way home. Never moved until I got to the hills of PA and NY. Then it dropped some. I am curious to see what it is when I haul my backhoe and gross out at close to 40K. I figured I would be married to 5th, but it moved along well in OD for most of the trip.
5. On the transmission. It shifts well, but in 5th gear I can feel roughness if I push the shifter to the stop while engaged. No other gear does this so I am a little nervous. While under the truck the other day I twisted the drive shaft by hand and heard all sorts of rattling (bearings in a coffee can) from the clutch. Makes no noises while running clutch in, out, engaging, etc. Not sure what to think there.
