I was told that the Bully Dog downloader will leave foot prints on you computer and the dealer can see them. Has anyone heard this and is it true.

one theory is that the BDDL resets the key-on counter... .

Thats a big sign of an ECM reflash. They may have fixed that by now though...

EVERY down loader leaves traces of its existence. Some are just better at cleaning up the obvious signs. :)

I've heard the same thing about the BDDL.

However, I've heard that the new Smarty Does NOT leave a footprint. Heard that a couple of times, now.

Marco, has stated multiple times the Smarty is not infallible. If a competent tech with STAR scan tools wants to find evidence it is there. ;)

MARCO SAYS :)

2) No trace is left in the ECM!

I herby CLAIM that SmartyCR is the FIRST AND ONLY downloader that does not erase any of the stored data in the ECM. Smarty does NOT leave any footprints. Smarty does NOT set ANY codes once the ECM is set back to stock. Smarty does NOT need to have fuses pulled. Smarty...

Well you get the picture.

That is a very strange quote... ... ... ... . the 06 smarty is not out yet. How could anyone find a trace with the star scan :-laf :-laf

That being said the Smarty does not leave any footprints visible with a drb that I have seen yet. There is a lot more to look at than key counts ;)

The software Banks has in the New PowerPDA has not Been fooled By any of the Downloader"s I have Tried PPE,T-Dog, Flash-B,Live,The moment you change the Last Value it throws a Engine (DC),If it can fool the PowerPDA than it"s a smarty...

Since version 2. 2. 5a released back in February, it no longer erased the key cycles or the fuel used history, and version 2. 2. 7 released in March incorporated ECM boot protection. It is undetectable (save for a smart tech as mentioned above) and won't fry your ECM either. Got to have the latest version of the software from their web site though to get all of that. The older versions from last year will reset all of the stored data. Their use to be a lineage of software updates by version on their web site that lists all of the changes since initial release.

cerberusiam,

WHEN did I state that Smarty is not infallible?

Well read my lips, Smarty is NOT traceable. PERIOD.

Smarty does NOT erase any information in the ECM that a DRBIII or StarScan can read.

Just BTW the 06 Smarty is not ready yet for you, for me that's a different story... ;)

AK RAM,

The BD is fully traceable. Even when set back to stock it still sets code P0602

and not only that... .

Marco

P. S. Back to vacation now!
