Any updates to report for the transgo shift kit for the 48re.

Would you do it again?

just looking at installing one depending on feedback from this forum.

thanks in advance

I had one on my 47RE installed about 7 years ago. It was a P. O. S. Quick shifts to 3rd and wouldn't go back to 1st until I completely stopped. I had it replaced with a DTT 1 1/2 years ago and all is good again - It's noticeably quicker too when with the shifts in the right spot.

I also had it put in my 47RE probably a year and half ago to help with the shudder I was getting due to the extra ponies. All seemed ok to me. I think my demise occurred last summer wehn I got slowed in construction pullin 10k at the bottom of a long hill climb going from 7500ft to 11,000 elevation. Pulling that load up 6%grade, the transmission slipped 2nd gear enough that it couldn't hit third gear lockup and pulling second gear resulted in overheating. I've previously pulled the hill in 3rd lockup, just unfortunate construction circumstances. All was ok for about 6 mo's with light towing. I eventually overpowered the OD lockup and put in a Goerend TC and VB. So depending on the terrain you live and pull in the Shift kit is an inexpensive option... least for now. Good luck!
